3rd Season at Millennium

Career

Coach TJ Rivera is entering his third season with Millennium Basketball.

Coach Rivera grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where he scored over 1,000 points and earned All-State and All-Region honors during his career at Douglas County West High School. He then went on to play college basketball for Nebraska Christian, before transferring to University of Montana-Yellowstone, where he earned his degree in Business Administration.

After college, he moved to Arizona to begin his coaching career, applying his focus to player development and training. Learning the ropes from renowned NBA Skills Trainer, Vaughn Compton, Coach Rivera built the foundation for the skills that he utilizes today in his role as Director of Player Development for the Tigers. As well as training athletes throughout the Valley under TJR Training.

Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, Coach Rivera says, โ€œEvery day is an opportunity to do something better than we did the day before. Although we are one of the top high school basketball programs in the country, there is always room for improvement. We need to focus on ourselves, and consistently compete to be better than we were yesterday.โ€

Coach Rivera currently lives in Phoenix with his son, Koa, a future hooper ready to take after his old man.
