Jay Shelley
Career
Coach Jay is entering his sixth season as Assistant Coach for the Tigers.
A Phoenix native, Coach Jay earned his degree in Sports Management from Grand Canyon University.
He then connected with Coach Amundsen and began his coaching career with the St. Mary’s Knights, where he served as assistant coach from 2014 to 2017. Soon after his stint with the Knights, Coach Jay moved on to be a Player Development Assistant with the Phoenix Suns in 2017. His time with the Suns allowed him to work with top NBA talent, like Jamal Crawford, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, DeAndre Ayton, and more, until he departed the organization in 2020.
During his tenure with the Suns, he then reunited with Coach Amundsen at Millennium, where he has been serving as Assistant Coach and Director of Data and Analytics.
Personal
Coach Jay lives in Phoenix with his wife of 23 years, Maria, and his two daughters, Amelia and Ava. He is a licensed real estate agent, who has been helping Arizona residents find their new homes for more than 24 years.
